Raja's Seat is one of the major tourist attractions in Madikeri. As per the legends, the Raja's Garden was a favorite of kings of Kodagu who used to watch the setting sun and spend time with their queens. It is a square like structure built using brick and mortar. The structure has four arched entrances and the charm of this monument is enhanced by beautiful garden, greenery and mountains covered with mist. The setting sun is a splendor to watch. There is also an attraction of the toy train for children.
Omkareshwara Temple

Constructed in both Islamic and Gothic style of architecture, Omkareshwara temple was built by Lingarajendra in 1820. It is said that Lingarajendra killed an honest and a pious Brahmin to fulfill his political ambitions. That Brahmin became a Brahmarakshasa and started troubling the king. Later, the king was able to get rid of the Brahmarakshasa only when he brought a Shivalinga from Kashi and installed it at the temple. The Shivalinga was named as Omkareshwara and regular rituals were performed.
Madikeri Fort was built by Mudduraja in the second half of the 17th century. It was later renovated by Tipu Sultan in 1790 and named the fort Jaffarabad. Currently, Madikeri Deputy Commissioner's Office is located inside the fort’s premises. Along with some government offices, the fort also houses a Ganesha temple, a chapel, district prison and a museum.
Abbey falls display a beautiful spectrum amidst coffee and cardamom plantations. The best time to visit Abbey will be in the post-monsoon season. A hanging bridge constructed just in-front of the falls helps tourists capture the amazing display of nature.
Dubare Elephant Camp

Dubare is known for its elephant camp, a forest camp on the banks of the river Cauvery. This camp has plenty of elephants which are trained under naturalists. The tourists can enjoy a boat ride across the Cauvery River to the elephant camp. Some of the fun-filled activities at Dubare include, elephant bathing, elephant rides and river rafting.
Cauvery Nisargadhama

Cauvery Nisargadhama, a famous picnic spot for families is an island formed by the River Cauvery. This 35-acre island is filled with thick bamboo groves, sandalwood and teak trees and surrounded by the Cauvery River. The island is accessible by a hanging rope bridge. Children's playground, orchidarium, Machans (tree top shelters) and Pargola (wall less shelters), pedal boating, elephant riding and a deer park are the major attractions here.
Golden Temple in Bylakuppe

The Golden Temple, a beautiful Buddhist temple is situated at Bylakuppe near Kushalnagar. The Tibetan settlement in Bylakuppe was established in 1972. The temple is in the Namdroling Monastery, which is the second largest Tibetans settlement in India. This colorful Tibetan architecture attracts a large number of tourists from India and abroad. The main shrine is 40 feet high and has idols of Guru Padmasambhava, Buddha Sakyamuni and Amitayus. Watching hundreds of Buddhist monks performing their daily religious rituals and offering prayers loudly is an exciting experience.
Tadiyandamol Peak

Tadiyandamol Peak is the tallest peak in Kodagu, stands at an altitude of 5730 feet. This is the second highest peak in Karnataka. Tadiyandamol is a Malayalam word which means 'Tallest'. Trekked by hundreds of tourists every year, the peak is known for its scenic beauty.
This place is a confluence of river Cauvery, Kannike and Sujyothi. The famous Sri Bhagandeswara Temple located here follows the Kerala style of architecture. There are four more temples in the premises which are dedicated to Lord Shiva, Subrahmanya, Mahavishnu and Ganapathi. The temple attracts a large number of tourists during the sacred “Thula” month, which spans from October to November.
Talacauvery is located in the Brahmagiri hills near Bhagamandala at an altitude of 1276 meters. This is the birth place of river Cauvery and is considered as a spot of religious significance. According to the legends, it is believed that goddess Cauvery makes her appearance once a year during Tulamasa in October. There is a holy tank from where the river emerges and taking a dip in this spot on Tula Sankramana is considered very sacred. There is a walkway adjacent to the temple that leads to the Brahmagiri peak. From the Brahmagiri peak, the tourists can get a distant view of Kudremukh, Chamundi Hills, Wynad and Nilgiris.
Situated about 35 kilometers from Madikeri, Mandalpatti is about 1600 meters above sea-level. This peak is known for its exciting terrains and beautiful view of the nearby green hills.
Mallalli Waterfall

Mallalli waterfall is located at about 45 kilometers from Madikeri. This 120 feet fall is situated in the foothills of Pushpagiri hills. The water from this waterfall flows to Mangalore through Kukke Subrahmanya.
Located at 34 kilometers from Madikeri, The Harangi dam is constructed across the river Cauvery. During the monsoon season, the dam attracts a large number of tourists as the gates of the dam are opened and the water is released. There is a stone statue of goddess Cauvery and also a small garden near the dam. The backwaters are spread across several acres with small islands in the middle and thick forest on the banks.
The Irupu waterfall is situated in Brahmagiri Hills between Srimangala and Kutta in South Coorg. Flowing down from a height of 170 feet, this waterfall is situated amidst thick forest and offers great views of nature, surrounded hills and several small streams flowing across. It is formed by Lakshmana Teertha, a stream which originates in Brahmagiri peaks and joins the river Cauvery. To stand at the bottom of the cascades and play in the falls is a memorable and exciting experience.
Nagarahole Wildlife Sanctuary

Nagarahole Wildlife Sanctuary is also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park. It has a rich forest cover, small streams, hills, valleys and waterfalls. This reserved park is a home for tigers, Indian bison and elephants. The Nagarahole Wildlife Sanctuary was declared the thirty seventh project tiger reserve in 1999.
